Departing from Tokyo
Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) is 60km from the centre of Tokyo, a 1-hour journey by train or 80 minutes by road. It's recommended that you arrive at the airport 2 hours before domestic flights to Sapporo, as the airport gets busy during peak times.

Arriving in Sapporo
Sapporo Chitose Airport (CTS) or New Chitose Airport is the main gateway to Hokkaido, 50km south of Sapporo CBD. After picking up your bags you can use any airport facilities you need before heading to your accommodation – such as getting cash from an ATM, getting something to eat or drink, booking a sightseeing tour or hiring a car.
The fastest and cheapest way to get to Sapporo is on the JR rapid train. This takes up to 40 minutes and costs up to ¥1100. A bus takes almost an hour and costs up to ¥1500, while a taxi is much more expensive at ¥14,000-¥18,000.
