Chiang Mai International Airport is the fourth busiest airport in Thailand, and it is very well equipped for passengers transiting through its gates. You will find medical, currency and banking services, as well as access to business lounges, an information centre and free WiFi. There are lots of dining options, from traditional Thai to international cuisine, and a coffee bar where you can pick up snacks. There is also a duty-free store and a few retail shops you can browse in.
Transport
There’s only really two types of transportation into Chiang Mai, and that’s via taxi, or hotel transfers. If your hotel doesn’t offer to ferry you from the airport, then you can find a taxi just outside the terminal. The journey into town is short and inexpensive, taking around about 10-15 minutes and costing approximately 120BHT ($5).
If you want to rent a car, you can do so from this airport, all the major car companies are represented at Chiang Mai Airport, including Avis, Budget and Hertz.

How long should you leave to get to the airport?
As this is an international connecting flight, it is recommended that you check in at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time for this portion of the flight. Time difference: Chiang Mai is three hours behind Brisbane.
Weather: Chiang Mai has wet and dry seasons, and the dry season can be divided into two further categories: the hot and the cool. The rainy season is from May to October and is best avoided. From November through February, the weather is considered at its most pleasant, when the temperature gauge is between 20-28°C. The hot season is from March through May, and unless you love the heat, it isn’t a pleasant time of year to go, expect temperatures to hover between 28-36°C.
Though Brisbane isn’t exorbitant, Chiang Mai is markedly cheaper across the board. A three-course dinner on the town for two people at a mid-range restaurant is a bargain, coming in at around 500BHT ($20).
