100 love it there. Every one is so friendly

I’ve stayed at the white mare twice now.The rooms are amazing. Loads of room to walk around. The bathrooms are beautiful. We all like a soak after a day walking in the countryside. The bar staff are great. Friendly and welcoming. I love the fact you can take your dogs. Treats a on the bar for them and fresh water. The restaurant is great. Food looks amazing. I’d definitely recommend the white mare if you’re looking for a weekend getaway. Fresh air. Sea only 20 minutes drive. Scenery is amazing. Thank you Helen and staff for a wonderful time xxx

Lovely is the right word to describe The White Mare.

The White Mare is a peaceful, relaxing lovely place. The dining room and the bar staff were attentive, but not to invasive. The menu was great and the food was enjoyable, all the right reasons for a visit.

Good village hotel

As the Royal Oak where I was staying was closed and in disrepair I chose to eat here as it was next door. Good choice of food and well kept beer, welcoming and friendly landlady. Friendly locals willing to chat.

Well we picked this lovely Village pub/ hotel to stay in because the village has no shops and as a bonus this makes it lovely and quiet. When we arrived for our weeks stay using this as a base for touring around the lake District national park etc we were greeted with a warm smile and great welcoming staff. Our room was nice and cosy a good sized room and on the ground floor which suited us just perfectly. The food here is superb with plenty to choose from on the menu. Beckermet the village is a lovely little place to stay and it's great for getting out and about from the White Mare sits right in the middle of the village and seems to get a steady stream of people staying and enjoying the surrounding places to visit. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay especially as the weather was brilliant all week as well. We have already discussed returning for another stay sometime next year as we enjoyed it so much and we made good friends with the staff who were all brilliant. We will definitely stay again without a doubt so as we can see even more of Cumbria.

Would definitely recommend!

Myself and my partner booked a last minute room as we were travelling back to Bristol from Scotland and needed a sleep. The staff waited there for us to collect our room key as it was quite late and showed us to a lovely deluxe double room. The room was spotless and had absolutely everything we needed! We were extremely impressed. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast the next morning was lovely. Lots of different options for teas/coffees and juice. We would definitely come back.
