Superb venue, lovely host

This is a superb place to stay. Rose makes you feel so comfortable. It was like staying with family. The whole house was spotlessly clean, warm and well decorated. Rose is a superb host and cooks a lovely breakfast too. I cannot recommend this venue highly enough.

Very pleasant & a great breakfast

A one night stop off for us while walking the Ridgeway National Trail. Rose was lovely, the room very clean and complete with fridge and microwave.
Our room looked out onto the garden which was very pleasant.
Breakfast was awesome!
Highly recommended.

A very comfortable stay

This was a trip for a family funeral, so we expected simply to make the best of a very sad event. In fact, the hospitality we received was unexpected and very welcome. Melrose Cottage is much more than a simple B&B, it is a home, and guests are welcomed into it. Exceptionally clean, well organised and thoughtfully arranged, it is a very warm and comfortable place. Breakfasts are included in the price, and what breakfasts too! We encountered a delicious spread of a range of delicious fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals, juice, toast, and that’s before we were treated to our choice of a menu of brilliantly cooked options prepared individually to order. The very best part of the whole stay was meeting Rose: a kind, empathetic and generous person. She made our stay with her warmth, care and attention. She is an extraordinary person, interesting, knowledgeable, efficient and capable, whose house and garden provide an ideal spot for a very comfortable stay.

Wow, a breakfast for for a king (or queen)

No fuss booking, great welcome and comfortable room. Plenty of teas and other beverages with fresh milk in the fridge. Lots of choice of toiletries as well.
But what's really special about this B&B is the magnificent spread for breakfast. Lots of choice of fresh fruits, cereals, full English, toast. Certainly sets you up for walking the Thames path ,Chilterns or whatever reason brings youi here.
I thoroughly recommend Rose's place.

Comfortable B+B

We stayed one night at Rose's B+B whilst walking the Ridgeway. It is a mile off the route but worth the detour.
Comfortable room, with shared bathroom facilities but we were the only occupiers so it didn't matter. Tea, coffee and fresh milk provided.
Great breakfast and good sandwiches for our packed lunch
