A run down hotel only saved by majority of staff - not worth the money!
Upon arrival, we checked in at the reception but were not informed there was a separate reception area for privilege customers. Therefore, we waited in the queue—not an issue, as staff wouldn’t know you’re a privilege customer before check-in. When booking our holiday, we were told that late checkout would be available, as our transfer back was around 5:30-6 PM. However, when we asked about it, we were told to book the late checkout the day before leaving.
Unfortunately, due to our flight arriving late, no one was available to show us around the place, which was apparently also a perk of the privilege service. This became crucial later, as nothing was explained—there were no instructions on how to use the coffee maker in the room, how the jacuzzi worked, or how to log in to the computers to browse the internet in the privilege service. A simple information leaflet next to the facility would have been extremely helpful. But this was just the beginning.
As we walked through the corridors of the hotel, we immediately noticed that the carpet was extremely dirty and looked like it had never been vacuumed. There was debris everywhere, splashes of paint, and patches of dirt—an absolute disgrace for a 4-star establishment. Upon entering the room, I noticed right away that the floor had multiple cracks and debris scattered everywhere, especially next to the floor lamp. This debris was never cleaned or vacuumed throughout our entire stay, despite us leaving the "please clean the room" sign on the doorknob.
Our worst fears were confirmed when we entered the bathroom through the glass doors—which, by the way, could not be closed. If you want to visit the bathroom in the middle of the night and switch on the light, you’ll not only wake up the people staying with you (due to the see-through door), but they’ll also hear everything from the bedroom.
The bathroom was by far the biggest disaster. The quality of cleaning was non-existent, and every single fixture or fitting was in an absolutely disgusting state. The hairdryer was slimy and covered in some sort of yellow discharge, and the shower cabin looked as if someone had just showered there after working in a coal mine. Mold and dirt were visible in every single corner, and the paint job and silicone were greatly worn out. It seemed like the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly in ages. Stains that wouldn’t come off with standard cleaning solutions were everywhere, and limescale buildup was preventing proper water flow. This was clearly the result of months of neglect and improper cleaning of the showerheads. On the second day, I cut myself shaving and wanted to clean up immediately, as blood on the floor is not a pleasant sight. Since it was just an hour before the cleaners were due, I left it for them to handle. Unsurprisingly, the dried blood was still there on the day we checked out. One of the most unique sights was a cockroach crawling in the bathroom at night. Having never seen one before, I didn’t expect to see many more.
When we picked up products from the tray, a thick layer of dust appeared because the items hadn’t been touched in ages. After eating everything (peanuts and crisps), none of the minibar items were replenished, despite the fact that it was clearly mentioned they would be replaced free of charge.
We were also told that the mini-fridge would be replenished daily, free of charge—another perk of privilege service. However, despite us drinking all the Coke, orange juice, some beer, and plenty of water, the fridge was never refilled throughout our entire stay. If you ever stay there, never check inside the duvets—we made that mistake. What we found was something you’d expect in a 0-star room rented by the hour: stains and human discharge. The bedding was never changed once; the beds were just tidied up, but we slept in the same sheets throughout our stay.
As a privilege service member, you have access to a privilege lounge, terrace, and small jacuzzi. It’s advertised as having a bar and coffee service. The "bar" means there are some bottles of alcohol and soft drinks so you can make your own drinks. Initially, there wasn’t even grenadine syrup for sweet cocktails until a helpful staff member brought it upon request. Sweet syrups are essential for self-service cocktail making and should be available. There is no "coffee service"—just a coffee machine for making it yourself. The daily snack service consisted of leftover buffet items, typically three unlabelled dishes. If you have allergies or food preferences, forget about eating anything. The privilege room also introduced me to much larger cockroaches than the ones I saw in the bathroom. I understand that cockroach infestations are common in tropical climates, but you’d expect a premium establishment to take premium precautions to prevent them.
The buffet-style restaurant offered a relatively good selection for lunch and dinner, but breakfast was extremely poor. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of food recycling going on. Mushrooms served hot in the morning would be offered as cold options later in the day and then reheated the next day. Eggs boiled in their shells for breakfast would be halved and served later, then added to salads or stews the following day. Food labelling was non-existent—just like in the privilege snacks. If you have allergies or intolerances, this is not the hotel for you. Meatballs were placed in the vegetarian section, ketchup was labelled as mayo, and cucumber as sausages. Quite often, items weren’t labelled at all, so you had to guess what they were. Thankfully, I don’t have any known food allergies, but I can’t imagine the difficulty for those who do. You don’t want to ask staff about every item at the buffet—everything should be clearly labelled.
The bars have a very limited cocktail menu and don’t use specialized tools for making them, so cocktails taste different at each bar. The pool bar makes the best cocktails. When we booked, the drinks menu was much more extensive, but it had been reduced by about 40%. If these changes are seasonal, they should be clearly mentioned in all leaflets, on the website, and on their social media.
One day before checking out, we asked for a late checkout, as mentioned in our correspondence with the hotel and upon our arrival. We were entitled to it but were informed it couldn’t be done. However, we were told we could keep our bracelets until our transfer arrived so we could still use the lounge and other facilities. I would have preferred to stay in the room longer, so I could shower before leaving and still use the pool. Late checkout was one of the reasons we purchased the privilege service, and yet again, we were let down. The explanation that the hotel was fully booked seemed weak, as many guests arrive around 1 AM, leaving plenty of time to clean the room and prepare it for the next guests, especially when cleaning seems barely involved.
I would probably give the hotel 2 stars, mainly because most of the staff (waiters, waitresses, the girl stocking the privilege room, and the female members of the animation team) were amazing. Its location on the beach and some events, like the rock 'n' roll band on Wednesday with an incredibly talented guitar player, were also highlights. However, with everything else mentioned, I can’t justify £450 per night for this experience. In 2022, I stayed at a very small, modest 3-star hotel that was a third of the price but ten times better in every aspect. This 1-star review is based on that comparison. A few months ago, I stayed at a similar 4-star hotel in Rhodes with similar facilities, and the price was also 30% less than H10 Gran Tinerfe. The cleanliness and overall condition of that hotel were incomparable to my experience here—in Rhodes, it felt like entering a newly renovated room every time after cleaning.
As for now - I would never come back to this hotel or a whole chain in general, as the experience is not worth over £3000 spent and surely should not be called a privilege or superior service.

Amazing staff
Yes the hotel is old and there are a few tired areas, but only if you go looking.
I stayed as a preferred guest which includes the a la carte restaurant for all your meals. These guys are the absolute best and made every meal so special.
If you like dressing for dinner and being severed by great people then preferred is the way to go, but it also has a great buffet restaurant if you’re not so keen.
