Kaboom stay with study group

The Kaboom is a great place to stay, especially with a group. They offer comfortable lodging. A plus for me is how quiet the rooms are. Most of our group required a shared room, and this was easily accommodated. The staff at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fresh, healthy and delicious. We look forward to our stay again next January.

Okay for a night but really some downsides

+ Friendly staff, friendly staff. His foreigners but speak good Dutch.
+ Nice beds (unfortunately 2 single instead of 1 double)
+ Funny quotes on the walls
+ Delicious and extensive breakfast (except for the watery orange juice)
+ Everything looked clean and tidy.
- Hotel pretends to be very eco-friendly. "Shower for two 30 liters less water consumption", "use towels again". "If you hang the green tree on your room door we plant a tree instead of cleaning it" etc etc. (Would they really do that...?) But then at breakfast they have wooden stirrers instead of just teaspoons. This gives the impression that with all their suggestions they mainly want to reduce their own costs instead of saving the environment... Also the cups to put jam in were disposable instead of glass or stone.
And oh, showering together was a bit cold, the shower head wasn't big enough for this...
- Terribly watery orange juice at breakfast. Blegh. I drank the glass because I'm against waste but good is different.
- Shelf life milk instead of fresh. Whole milk, though.
- Cutlery to consume a kiwifruit came only after I asked for it (sharp knife to peel or a teaspoon to spoon out).
- All information in the room was in English (except the flight plan). Now I speak that almost fluently but my grandfather had not understood it. Come on, we're just in the Netherlands anyway...!
- For breakfast you had to go outside through the cold. Luckily it was dry!
- Only 1 seat in a double room
- No suction in the shower - everything was fogged up
- No rubber under the shower door so the water ran straight into the bathroom
- The air conditioning made a kind of flapping noise. Not the sound you want to wake up to at 5am... And anyway, why is there an air conditioning on in winter...?! We are both still suffering from our throats now (1.5 days later).
- 2 single beds in a double room

No window and bad air

There is no window in my room and no heating in the bathroom. There is no TV either... Woke up several times during my sleep, perhaps because of the poor air condition in the room

Good location, welcoming staff

Near train station, lot's of eating options nearby, welcoming staff.A pity the absence of waiting common space indoors, especially as one may have late train departure.

Sleepless night

When booking passed that we wanted the least noisy room, owv light sleepers. But immediately upon entering the room we heard very disturbing non-stop rumble (from the engine of the elevator?) in the room next to us. We immediately reported this to the reception, but they indicated that they no longer had ‘quiet’ rooms available - only on the street side, where we would probably also suffer from street noise. As a solution we got earplugs with us... Consequence, terrible / not slept, despite the comfortable beds and pillows.
In addition, the room was cold, and the bathroom ice cold because there was no heating. The room is very basic and minimalist. For example, coffee in the room you have to pay extra.
The breakfast room was also freezing. The breakfast itself was simple but tasty, but unsociable. There were no hot dishes, so we drank plenty of coffee to get warm.
In short: simplistic hotel with an emphasis on ecology, where you unfortunately have to compromise on comfort - and therefore pay too much.

Dear Mamvan3,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We truly value your feedback as it helps us identify areas where we can improve.
We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered during your stay. It’s disappointing to hear that you were disturbed by the noise in your room, especially after requesting a quieter space. We understand how important a restful night’s sleep is, and we will investigate the cause of the rumble you mentioned to prevent future disruptions. We also regret that we couldn’t accommodate you in a quieter room and that the solution with earplugs was not ideal.
Additionally, we’re sorry to hear about the temperature concerns in both the room and bathroom. This is certainly not the standard we strive for, and we will address the heating issues promptly.
Regarding the breakfast and room amenities, we appreciate your input and will look into how we can improve the overall comfort and warmth of the breakfast room.
We regret that your stay didn’t meet your expectations and we thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. We will review these aspects carefully to enhance our guest experience.
We hope you'll consider staying with us again in the future, and we’ll do our best to ensure a more comfortable stay.
Kind regards,
Laura - Service Manager
