Opened in 1878, Fujiya Hotel features Meiji Era architecture set in Hakone’s natural beauty. Just 500 metres from Miyanoshita Station, it offers indoor and outdoor pools, a spa and a restaurant in a converted Imperial Villa called Kikka-so Inn.

Un. Time jump.

To take a step back in time, I recommend this charming hotel. Wooden decor, long corridors, swimming pool, bar, dining room will make you travel. The service is amazing, the rooms a little old but very well equipped. The breakfast is absolutely exceptional.

History and Luxury Mixed with Hot Baths

OMG. Amazing stay at this hotel in Hakone . The hotel is a mix of the old history with modern luxury. The room was large and very comfortable . Amenities were perfect for going to the mineral bath and throughout the stay . Breakfast every morning before our exploring was exceptional and the dining room is beautiful. Don’t forget to take a walk and pick up the koi food to feed the fish out of your hand . It was off season when we went and very cool and raining but it changed nothing to make the stay perfect . We saw the area using the pass and it was a perfect location with a short walk to train station or by courtesy van at hotel . Great stay for three nights . Very clean and relaxing . One stop up the mountain is a wonderful Art Museum.

The Fujiya is an impressive and beautiful historic hotel. We stayed with our 5 month old baby in the Forest wing. The room itself was spacious and the decor in keeping with the Classical design of the hotel. I particularly enjoyed the onsen and the western breakfast (best breakfast of our trip). Would thoroughly recommend a stay here due to its history and grandeur!

It is a historic hotel so expect the look to be a little dated, however, that is what adds charm to it. Overall a comfortable hotel, bathroom not so great (review is for FORESTWING TWIN FOREST SIDE). French restaurant is very nice for dinner as well as breakfast, it feels a little formal but a nice experience. Hotel garden is nice, staff is very helpful.

A hotel full of history and being updated with all modern amenities

Thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay here to experience the history and enjoy the modern pampering. Before we went, I read some negative reviews about the decay and rust and lack of free water in the room. We stayed in the relatively new Forest wing and had a very positive experience. They even had an area where you can get fruit juices and brew fresh coffee. All in-room woodern assessories added another classic touch.
Another advantage of staying at the Forest section is that you can access the onsen on the 6th floor. Took advantage of that and relaxed my aching body after all the sightseeing.
