Good Location, Friendly Staff, Good Value

Despite arriving from the bus terminal before 5 a.m., thanks to the very helpful night porter we managed to get into our room for a tiny extra amount, and grab a couple hours' sleep. Breakfast was on the shaded roof terrace, and was pretty good, although only instant coffee.
Our room was cosy, but enough space for one night. Comfy bed. A/c worked well. Bathroom small but hot water when we needed it.
Very handy location -- 10 min walk to bus terminal and MallPlaza; a couple more to the beach.

Nice family hotel

The small and beautiful hotel was busy with holidaymaking Chilean families during our stay. There's a nice patio as well as a rooftop terrace where breakfast is served.
The breakfast varied slightly from day to day and was ok. The service at breakfast was quite slow, probably because there was just one person serving all the guests.
Many different people were working at reception and doing the breakfast service. Therefore the atmosphere were not very personal and sometimes it seemed that the staff was more interested in the tv program than in the guests. Especially one person at reception was totally confused. Hoping it was her first week and she was still in her initial training. If not it should maybe has been her last week working there...
Our double room was ok, very clean and had a tv and a safe.
The location is good for playa Chincorro and in walking distance to playa Las Machas (20-30 minutes to the north). Town centre and the southern beaches (e.g. La Lisera) can be reached by collectivo or bus (no. 14 passes by the hotel and can be waved down directly there).

Nice hostel, no frills

Stars here one night. Close to the beach and nice room. Got a room for 25k. Breakfast was great and very, very extensive. Owner is very friendly and speaks some English. Room was not very clean (soap from previous visitor still in the bathroom). Relocated to sunny hostel (around the corner), because we wanted to meet some people.
Think the room is usually more expensive. I think we would not have stayed there if that was the case.

Arica

Arica - the last town in the Nord of Chile with a big, important harbour and mines around. The Hotel is situated away from the busy centre. To reach the beach you must walk over two busy motorways. The staff was after a misaccord in the beginning and a hot discussion friendly. A reason to book this hotel was the view from the roof terrace with the Jacuzzi - a fake. The view was on the roofs of the small huts around and the bus depot. The terrace was full with waste from the hotel (chairs, ...). The Jacuzzi on duty a long time ago - filled with waste. The beach launcher - dirty, dirty .... Another problem is a secure garage in these surrounding

Good choice in Arica

We stayed one night after crossing the border from Peru. It is walking distance from the bus station and across the street from a developed restaurant/activity area on the beach. They could not locate our reservation when we first checked in (booked through booking.com), but everything worked out well. Mostly families staying here during our visit - there to enjoy a beach holiday. This has nothing to do with the hotel, but our ATM card was 'skimmed' when we withdrew money from a downtown bank - this is the first time this has ever happened and we travel six months out of the year every year. The hotel, btw, is quite a ways from downtown Arica, but it is worth walking down - there are many local shops selling 'stuff' and a nice pedestrian street with Western shops.
