Friendly and nice!

It was our second time here in hotel Karnia. We were staying for only one night this time, but it was great! Very friendly atmosphere, room with a beautiful view, tasty breakfast. The hotel is in the nature, the surrounding is very quiet.

ok for groups

This is not a first class hotel, a little bit worn, but with good food. Breakfast was ok, but nothing hot though. Neverthless, dinners were plenty and very tasty. If you're not a very demanding person, this may be a place for you. Watch out for slow or non-existant wifi.

Not like in the pictures..but still good

We spent 9 days around the New Year in Aktiv Karnia. First , the location is fantastic , but far away from Hermagor city center. The only option was a bus and by car. Then , the hotel doesn't look like in the pictures! And not in the good way! What is compensating is the owners and the staff. We become friens from the first day and we kipped that way up to the end! Very nice atmosphere at night with a lot of people coming to drink a spaps or a beer. The breakfast very good and the dinner not very big portions but very tasty. The rooms a little old mans stile ..

This is like home...

It has been by chance to choose online this hotel, back in 2004. Ever winter since we returned to the Grollitsch family, we never even looked for other places. Radnig is an oasis of silence, is peaceful, natural and offering amazing sights. Aktiv Karnia is continuously changing, the shift of generations is visible every year. What remains the same is the warm friendship and respect of the people. We'll return, again and again. Because this is like home.

Just a bad choice...

Unfortunately, we decided a little late to go to Austria for a ski weekend, and this hotel was all that was left, really. It is located some 10km from the ski slopes, not even near the center of the city. The hotel is fairly clean, altough the time has it pretty much worn out like an old shoe. Which doesn't make it comfortable. The food was alright, but the portions pretty small and not sufficient for hungry skiers at the end of the day. But the worst part is the staff (and owners since it is a family-run business) which was not at all friendly, even rude on a couple of occasions, in a typical austrian nose-up-in-the-air fashion, and considerig the price we payed for the stay, it is far too overpriced. Children-friendly? Forget it. They are as children-friendly as a couple of grumpy old hags living downstairs of a girls sorority appartment...
