Million dollar views

What an absolutely hidden gem, we will most certainly be back. The views were to die for, we really didn't want to leave our appartment, it was so spacious with everything we needed. We could see all the way down to Coolangatta.

Fantastic

We went the last week of holidays. 2 adults and 4 kids ages from 10,16,17,18. It was a 3 bedroom self contained unit. Had everything we need plus full kitchen with full size fridge/freezer. FOXTEL etc. Very comfortable beds. 2 times queen and two singles.
Balconies on all sides with beautiful water views and city/hill views.
Great pools two of them. Tennis court. Sauna and games/ library/board games room.
Close to shops, beach, theme parks. Shopping centres were only five minutes away. Lovely little coffee shop across road and 7 eleven too.
Quite and relaxing. Lockup parking.
If we needed anything they were very helpful.
We never had any problems or complaints.
Would recommend.

Poor communication during flood...

We needed to visit the Runaway Bay area and decided to stay here again because our last trip here was good. A few days into our stay there was a heavy rain event which caused the basement car park in one of the buildings to flood. We were not aware that the rain was 'more than normal' as we were not locals. Probably an hour or so after the rain started, I attempted to go down to the car park. There were a few people standing around in the stairwell and one said "If you have a car in there you better move it before it floods!" I thought to myself "Why didn't somebody inform us of the pending situation?" Anyway, by that time, the water level was already above shoulder height (see the attached picture of the water in the stairwell) and was well above the electrical outlets and light switches. It would have been to dangerous to enter the car park anyway due to the risk of electrocution or drowning. The water leveled out at about head height. Power remained on all night and we did not receive any information from those trying to run the show. The following morning at about 11am, without notice, the power was turned off, some 17+ hours after the rising water. The issue was not about the power being cut off, the issue was, just like with the rising flood water, not being given any notice. It was a very hot night without being able to use fans or air-conditioning, and in the morning, the stairwells began to smell of dirty water and there were some leeches on the stairs near the water level. The Rural Fire Service arrived on scene and began pumping water some 20+ hours after the rain started. Perhaps water pumps could have been hired much earlier instead of having to depend on the very kind volunteers at the Rural Fire Service? The Rural Fire Service had to return again the following day to finish pumping most of the water out and, later in the evening, the power finally came back on! A few of the people I spoke to there lost their cars and other items stored in the basement car park. Some claimed to not have insurance and were annoyed that they were also not warned to move their car out as they said CCTV cameras in the car park should have shown the rising flood water. Anyway, although we did not lose anything, the lack of communication about the rising flood water, and the power being left on for so long and then being cut off without notice, left a very bad taste in our mouth about this place. This was a very disappointing experience because this place is in a nice location and has great views.

Briefly there are a number of inaccurate statements in the review. Yes, we did have floodwaters in the basement and part way up the stairwells of ONE building, the Villa 3 level walk up near the street. We have two buildings with two separate car parks. The writer is writing as if a guest in that building however we do not believe they were. There was no reason to communicate to any guests in the Villa building. There were no guests in the Villa building at the time, and any later bookings were upgraded to the Tower building while the building was returned to a suitable environment for guests. Substantial changes have been made to ensure storm damage of this magnitude can be controlled easier in the future.

Very nice

Had a great stay here. The view of the balcony was amazing looking over the Broadwater Sat there nearly all day watching the hype of activity with all the boats cruising past. We have stayed here many years ago and have come back for more.
