Why visit Cabo San Lucas?
Walk along the exotic shores of Baja California, home to one of Mexico’s most sought after destinations; Cabo San Lucas. Less touristy than the eastern resort of Cancun on the Maya Riviera, Cabo boasts the same pristine sand beaches, and warm azure waters as Cancun, but with half of the people. This is also one of the best places in the world to dive, and go whale watching, so if you love marine life, and are a bit of a sun baby, you must come to Cabo.
Things to do in Cabo San Lucas
You cannot visit the famous Cabo, without spending at least some time at its most famous natural landmark; Land’s End. Perched at the very end of the Baja Peninsula are the unusual rock formations of this site, with two sea stacks rising beside and an archway, and hiding a beautiful beach, this is a photographer’s heaven. The beach has two sides—Divorce Beach and Lover’s Beach—with the former having tumultuous wave breakers, and the latter boasting calm and serene waters.
If the beach underneath the archway is not revealed by the tide, you can hire a kayak and sail through it instead. This is a great way to see the sliver of pointed rock called Neptune’s Finger too. Then once you’d done that, leave the surface of the water behind altogether, and dive beneath the waters and try cataloguing the hundreds of fish species that come in every colour imaginable.
However, there are more beaches to explore than the ones at Land’s End, such as Medano Beach, where you’ll find lots of watersports, entertainment venues, and nearby restaurants. Or if you don’t mind going a little further afield, then drive to the lovely Santa Maria Beach, known for its distinctive pink sand, and horseshoe shape.
In San Jose itself, the main town of Cabo, you can shop in the bustling Flea Markets for local trinkets, or amble along the Marina where most of the town’s swanky restaurants and bars cluster.
