Discover Kalibo International (Boracay)
Located near the capital of the province of Aklan, Kalibo International Airport is one of the two ports of entry serving Boracay Island, the most famous beach destination in the Philippines. It is the fastest growing airport in the country in terms of passenger traffic, due to its proximity to the island. Situated around 3 kilometres east of the main area of Kalibo, the airport caters to a number of international destinations such as Taipei, Seoul, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur. This makes it convenient to visit, especially when on a trip around Southeast Asia.
The popularity of Boracay has spurred various developments to take place in the airport in 2008. A terminal building was constructed, with an Instrument Landing System (ILS) installed. The runway was also extended, as well as the apron and tarmac. Additional aircraft and vehicular parking was also put in to make way for more travellers coming in on holiday from Asian routes.
