Discover Mount Isa
Built as travel hub for the mining community that has grown in this region of Australia, Mount Isa Airport (ISA) is an important regional hub for travellers and residents in this city in western Queensland. Seeing roughly a quarter of a million people pass through its terminal each year, this is a surprisingly well-equipped airport, despite its diminutive size. In terms of passenger services, you will find a cash machine located near the bathroom facilities, a comfortable departure lounge, and free WiFi throughout the airport. If you don’t have a mobile device to connect to the internet and need to contact someone, you can use the public telephone within the airport.
There is a bar within the terminal where you can relax with a drink, and a café serving light snacks and meals, as well as hot and cold beverages, such as coffee and tea. You’ll find that the bar and café conveniently opens before the scheduled flight arrivals and departures at this airport. Though there aren’t any shops in the terminal, you can buy magazines and newspapers here, which is ideal for keeping you occupied during whilst you are in transit.
There are car rental desks in the airport, with Avis, Budget and Hertz all offering reservation options for travellers looking to stay in Mount Isa.
To get to this historic town in Australia’s Outback, you will need to fly with domestic carriers such as Qantas, Alliance Airlines, Regional Express (REX), or Virgin Australia.
