Discover Incheon International
The Incheon International Airport (ICN) is the largest aviation hub in South Korea, and services the capital city of Seoul. It is a massive and key airport for the greater area of Asia and Australasia, and having only opened in 2001, it is a modern and extremely well-equipped facility.
In 2016, the Incheon International Airport saw almost 50 million people pass through its terminals, and if you are intending to travel through here, you will find lots of amenities. Free and comprehensive WiFi is available throughout the airport, you can also access telephones, postal services, and mobile phone hire. There are ATMs, currency exchange booths, pharmacies, a medical centre, and playrooms.
There is a large selection of restaurants, cafes and bars, serving both Korean and International cuisine, and lots of options when it comes to the type of dining experience you’re after, from sit-down restaurants, to fast-food outlets. Shoppers will be impressed with the range of items they can purchase in the duty-free retailers, and you can pick up books, electronics, and travel accessories within the airport. Extras include pretty gardens, a driving range for keen golfers, an ice skating rink, and even a spa where you can relax pre or post flight.
From Australia you can fly into Incheon with Asiana Airlines and Korean Air. Otherwise, look to book with Singapore Airlines, Qantas, ANA, China Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Thai Airways, Etihad Airways, Emirates, AirAsia, China Southern, Philippine Airlines, British Airways, American Airlines, Air India, Scoot, Hawaiian Airlines, China Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, Air Canada, Malaysia Airlines, Air China, Japan Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Qatar Airways, and Delta.
Travel Information
· If you’re driving, take the International Airport Expressway, then the Gangbyeonbuk-ro to Central Seoul. Use Skyscanner’s car hire search tool to organise a vehicle in advance, or rent a car from the agencies in the arrivals portion of the airport. The airport is 50km from central Seoul, so expect the drive to take about an hour.
· The train is a popular way to get right into the centre of town, as it is a direct route, and it takes 60 minutes. A ticket into town should be about 4000KRW ($4.50).
· There are numerous buses that vary in price depending on how fast the route is, or how plush the bus is. The fares tend to begin at about 3000KRW ($3.50). Cut down the hassle of choosing which bus to get, by booking an airport transfer with our online service.
· Taxis are fairly expensive, and rise depending on what size of taxi you get. But for a large family, or if you are carrying a lot of luggage, the cost may be worth it. Expect fares to sit between 45,000-80,000KRW ($52-92).
