The Marseille Provence Airport (MRS) is the main aviation hub for the lovely city of Marseille in the Provence-Alpes region of France. It is one of the most active airports in the country, seeing roughly eight million passing travellers each year. Established in the 1930s, this airport has grown into a fine facility for anyone wanting to travel to Marseille, and has undergone an update and an expansion in the past 10 years.
The Marseille Provence Airport has a good range of amenities, with information desks, a business centre, and several lounges you can take advantage of. There is also WiFi throughout the terminals, ATMs, and bureaux de change counters. Shoppers will be well pleased with the duty-free options available here, and there are several retailers selling local handicrafts, and travel goods. Food is also taken care of here, with cafes serving both delicious French cuisine, and a number of international choices.
If you want travel to Marseille from Australian, than your best bet is to book with Air France, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa, Qantas, Air China, Virgin Australia, KLM, and British Airways.
Travel Information
· With Skyscanner's search tool you can organise a car ahead of your arrival quickly and easily online before landing in Marseille. If you are planning on waiting until you arrive, then you will be able to find several car rental agencies operating within the airport. You’ll discover that driving to the city is fairly straightforward: at only 25km away, the journey should take you less than half an hour. Just hop on the A7, then take the exit on the A55 straight to Marseille.
· Shuttles will transport you to the train station near the airport. Once you hop on the train you should be in the centre of town in 15 minutes for a fare of about 6EUR ($8).
· If you don’t want the fuss of a stopover, you can take the shuttle directly into town. This equates to about 30 minutes of travel time, and roughly 8EUR ($11) for a one-way fare. If you are travelling in a group you may find that booking airport transfers is the most cost effective way to ensure your transport.
· Hailing a taxi just outside the terminal will mean a quickly 20-30 minute journey in, but a hefty fare of 50-60EUR ($71-85).
